Home Biz: Starting an All Natural Cleaning Business

By Patti Page

Do you want to start a natural cleaning business? Do you want to offer your clients a healthy alternative to cleaning? Are you concerned about the long term effects of strong cleaning chemicals on your health, your employees health, and the health of your clients and their families and pets?

Did you know that according to the EPA, household products can contain hazardous ingredients such as organic solvents and petroleum based chemicals which can release volatile organic compounds (VOC's) into your indoor environment. Exposure to toxic household hazardous chemicals from ingestion, inhalation or skin contact can produce acute (immediate) or chronic (long term) health effects such as: headaches, fatigue, burning eyes, skin rashes, allergic reactions, runny nose, chemical sensitivity, cancer, cardiac damage, respiratory tract irritant, nervous system damage, and liver & kidney damage.

Did you know that businesses, hospitals, and schools are switching to all natural, environmentally safe, effective cleaners to increase health among family members, clients, and employees all the while decreasing disposal costs of traditional household toxins and preserving our environment?

If you are ready to start a natural cleaning service, the first thing to consider is your product. Do your research and find a company that offers top quality natural products. A lot of companies offer these products but they produce their products in mass quantities which compromises the quality of the product. Find a company who will make the product when you place the order so you know you are giving your clients the best quality product available. We use Aromalogics.

Also a lot of the natural products have a strong unpleasant vinegar smell. If you want to use a natural product that smells great too, find a company that makes the natural cleaning products with essential oils of aromatherapy to make your clients homes smell great too.

Did you know that virtually every pure essential oil has its own antibacterial, anti-fungal, germicidal, antiseptic, deodorizing and even healing properties?

Make sure the product is 100% all natural plant based and that the company uses pure essential oils.

Care should be given when storing natural products with essential oils. Natural products should be kept tightly closed and stored in a cool location away from heat and light. If you are going to be using these products on a daily basis to clean clients homes, make sure you bring the products inside and store them at the end of the day. Don't leave your products in your vehicle overnight in extreme weather.

Health Benefits for You and Your Employees:

Using natural products for your cleaning service instead of chemical cleaners prevents you and your staff from suffering from adverse health effects.

I know this first hand. After using chemical cleaners on a daily basis for over 8 years in my cleaning business and constantly suffering from respiratory problems. I use to get Bronchitis frequently and the doctors did not know why. I would constantly cough during the day and at night. I didn't know it then, but it was the chemical cleaners that were causing my problems. When I made the switch to natural products my cough was gone and I feel like a different person.

It makes such a difference cleaning with great smelling aromatherapy products rather than inhaling the bleach and other harsh chemical smells of the chemical products.

You and your employees will enjoy cleaning!

Cost of Natural Products:

The cost of natural cleaning products is a bit higher than the chemical products, but the benefits to you, your employees and your clients far outweigh the cost.
