Work at Home Moms and Isolation - How to Overcome It
By Nicole Adams, Staff Writer

So, you’ve finally realized your dream of working from home. It took a lot of hard work, sacrifice and dedication, but you’ve finally made it and made something of yourself. As you look around your neat and comfortable office tucked away into the quiet recesses of your home, you are extremely proud. You think about the business niche that you’ve created for yourself, the success you’ve achieved and how great it is that you can finally be there for your children when they need you.

But even with all of the positive aspects of working from home, you can’t help but notice how quiet it really is around the house and just how alone you really are. Sometimes the walls seem like they are closing in, and you miss having adult conversations, lunching with your coworkers and the sense of belonging and accomplishment that can only be achieved by working as a team.

But you can also remember how hard it was to juggle a job outside of the home and how paltry your salary was. You’re not about to go back and give up all of your professional and financial freedom, but you still struggle with feelings of isolation and it is hard to get motivated on some days. So, how do you overcome the feelings of isolation that many moms experience while working from home?

The first step is to realize that there are many women in your same position with the same feelings that you have and that it is normal to feel isolated when working from home. In fact, feeling isolated is so common among work at home moms that there have been many online communities and support groups designed to give much needed support to moms who need a little extra boost.

Online communities can be a great tool for work at home moms to use because they connect you with women who are facing the same problems that you are.
